Located at 31 North Main Street in the old Belmont Drug building (circa 1900) downtown Belmont, LunaHombre was the vision of South Fork Deli, Cafe and Market owner Christopher Boone. Wine and tapas style small plates with a focus on international flavors; a well thought out cheese and charcuterie menu; along with small production, boutique Old World and South American wines, with some interesting West Coast wines added to the mix, are the main focus of LunaHombre. There are also six taps which showcase mostly NC breweries, with the occasional SC and GA brewery making a guest appearance, as well as a small but varied can and bottle selection of beer and ciders.
The by the glass wine selection features 20-24 whites and reds that venture far from the mundane and commonplace wine lists that have become the norm. It was the goal of the owner and the sommelier, Taylor Hobbs, to create a list with a bit of adventure to it, to introduce patrons to non standard varietals that make great wines at great prices. This attitude and mindset is also reflected in the retail selection.
In the coming months, with the annexation of the rear portion of the building, LunaHombre will be increasing the retail wine selection four fold, as well as adding an artisan coffee bar, FIASCO (which will feature a small but savory breakfast menu 6am-2pm), to the mix, bringing something very unique to the area.
Step out of the capsule, give the tether some slack, and see where your feet land.
